The 2009 Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club Dexterity series returns to the Advanced Driver Training Centre on Lakes Pen Road in St. Catherine on Sunday February 8, 2009 when Meshugata Event Promotions launches the first dexterity event of the year. The venue, made popular when it hosted 4 out of 5 dexterity tests in 2006 will again open its doors to developing new motorsport talent, while honing the skills of others.
Competitors and spectators alike will converge on the venue with the event set to start at 11:00 a.m. sharp. Five classes are being contested: Front wheel drive (FWD), rear wheel drive (RWD), four wheel drive (4WD), front wheel drive with a limited slip differential (FWD LSD) and rear wheel drive with a limited slip differential (RWD LSD).
Participants
2008 Dexterity Driver Champion Maurice “Witty” Whittingham is expected to attempt a hat trick in this year’s Dexterity Championship. He will have stiff competition from the likes of Tanee Green, Joel Jackson and Dmitri Dawkins who were also major contenders last year. In the past couple years, several ladies have left their mark in the dexterity series. This year is no different, ladies will not only be able to beat the guys for trophies and bragging rights, but will also compete in a special ladies class for additional trophies. Last but not least, Alan Chen from Mandeville alongside rear wheel drive favourite Ivan Lee will be “slideways” at the event, putting on a show that cannot be missed.
Clerk of the Course Christopher ‘Teach’ McFarlane of Jamspeed Racing has thrown down the gauntlet with the Meshugata Challenge asking Rookies to show what they’ve got and win cash by beating the time set by him in the demonstration run at the start of the event. A rookie in this case will be a newcomer to the sport having not competed for more than 12 months in any form of Dexterity test. The Rookie who beats Mr. Jamspeed himself by the fastest time will get a refund of their entry fee for the event.
Before you go
Competitor entry fee is $1,500 while spectators will pay $500 to watch this spectacular and entertaining event.
This event is made possible with the help of our sponsors Supreme Ventures Ltd, along with Meshugata Racing, Hair Evolution, Kreatur Komforts, RaceJamaica.com and our handy Helpers from Team Streetz & Friendz.

The 2009 Motorsports season kicked off today with the Jamaica Karting Association’s Meet #1 at the Palisadoes International Raceway. The Race Jamaica team will be covering all the motorsports news beginning with this, the first meet of the year.
Despite bleak economic outlooks, the 2009 motorsports season looks to be one of the best in years. With renewed efforts from all the Motorsports organizers, this year’s events are being planned more intensely to maximize on entertainment and reduce costs. Look out for the return of several popular drivers such as “Fattaz” on the rally scene and Jeffrey Panton at Dover. Not to mention some well prepared rookies who are going all out for the rally dirt season later in the year.
There will be new events as well, such as the return of “Mug” rallies, where street cars will compete against each other legally on public roads, traversing challenging courses set by the organizers. This event is aimed at training rookies in the art of rally navigation.
The dexterity season is not to be left out either as new prizes and surprises will be used in the 10 events for the year. Specifically the JMMC series will give the chance to compete against Chris “Teach” Mcfarlane for prizes. Expect new venues and new approaches from organizers.
Drag racing is also going to be big this year, following in the footsteps of the “neva satisfied” crew last year, organizers are planning at least 4 events for the year which will be action packed especially with the debut of new, 10 second and under (fast) cars. Last year Jamwest, which is the only local drag strip in operation, had issues with timing equipment, but they have sorted out the bugs as well as improved the facility and are race ready!
Overseas, we are looking to send strong teams to Rally Trinidad and Barbados. Already our friends across the Caribbean are upgrading to help with their defense, but the Jamaican attack has already been planned and is in action. Look for big news and upsets from the regional international rallies this year!
